Mineral waters

The mineral water is hot – 46° С, with low mineralization, hydrocarbonate-sulphate-sodium content, containing flour with high alkaline reaction. There is also a hydro-mineral source with lower water temperature of 36°С – Banya ‘Banche’, built upon the very spot of the spring and coming directly into the pool by means of porous tiles. The mineral water in the town of Banya is unique, but it is used only for water treatment procedures and not recommendable for drinking. The only water that is suitable for drinking is the one from the ‘Kokalcheto’ spring, which is situated in the park.

Treatment indications

The resort is recommended for treatment of diseases of the locomotor system, peripheral nervous system and central  nervous system – neuralgia, radiculitis, neuritis, lumbago, discal hernia, rheumatoid polyarthritis, ostheoporosis, Bechterew syndrome, myalgia, myositis, etc.

Nature

The resort altitude is 282 m. The climate is mild transitional-continental. Due to these climatic characteristics the resort falls into the category of the all-year-round health and spa resorts. There are excellent opportunities for complex spa and health treatment, as well as for prophylaxis, recreation and tourism. There is a natural source of healing mud in the resort, which is used for complex spa treatment programmes.

Historical sites

The summer resicence of King Boris III is a cultural and historic site along with its rich botanic garden. Resort guests can visit and take a tour around the neighbouring towns of Karlovo, Sopot and Kalofer, which are linked with the Bulgarian National Revival period, as well as Hisarya resort and the Thracian tomb close to the village of Starosel.

Free time

200m away from the hotel there is an all-year-round open air swimming pool with mineral water and a seasonal swimming facility with three mineral water swimming pools.

Transport

The town of Banya is situated 12 km south of Karlovo, 47 km north of Plovdiv and 155 km southeast of Sofia. The town is situated in the valley of Stryama river, surrounded by Sredna gora mountain to the south and Stryama river, which flows through the western part of the town.
