The physic-chemical characteristics of the mineral water in Starozagorski Mineral Baths is marked by low-mineralized, hypo-thermal water with neutral reaction /pH 6.9 due to the presence of 60mg of carbon dioxide/. The temperature, at which the water comes to the surface is 40°C and the flow-rate is 20 l/sec. In the water composition there are hydro-carbonate, sulphate, calcium, magnesium, silicone, fluoride and other types of micro elements (total mineral content varies from 0.498g/l to 2g/l), presence of meta-silicic acid in colloidal state – 34mg/l, which is extremely effective in a number of diseases.

Nature

Starozagorski Mineral Baths is situated in a very clean area from ecological perspective. The resort has the suitable landscape resources. It is situated in the wooded hills at the foot of the last part of Sredna Gora mountain – Sarnena. The altitude at the lowest point is 370m. The hills, surrounding the valley are at an altitude, which varies from 600 to 800m. They are covered with oak, hornbeam, linden and pine wood trees. The climate at the resort is modulated by its border location between the subtropical and temperate-continental climatic areas, softened by a certain Mediterranean influence. The winter is warm and short and the summer days are sunny and warm, but not muggy and the nights – cool and pleasant.

Historical sites

Starozagorski Mineral Baths is a resort which dates thousand of years back. As early as eight thousand years ago there were human settlements around the warm spring. The settlement, which was destroyed and rebuilt many times, has survived until today with a modern outlook. There are interesting monuments, preserved from the Thracian and Roman ages – pools from transparent marble, spa baths and other bathing facilities.

Starozagorski Mineral baths is a resort place, situated in the western part of the picturesque Srednogorska valley, 14km away from the city of Stara Zagora and 240 km away from Sofia city.
There is a public transport line from the city of Stara Zagora to Starozagorski Mineral Baths – line #9, leaving every hour.

Additional information

In the Starozagorski Mineral Baths area, about a kilometer to the north-east is situated the ‘Bogorodichna Stapka area (Virgin Mary’s footstep), famous for its strong energy emission, which has a beneficial and remedial effect on people’s health. Under the initiative of local people and the guidance of Starozagorska diocese, a chapel was built here, which is called ‘Rozhdestvo Bogorodichno’ temple (Birth of Virgin Mary).
